About Humorix

What is this?

Humorix shows the lighter side of Linux, the open source operating system everyone and their brother are talking about. Jokes and fake news about Slashdot, Microsoft, and Tux Penguin are thrown in for good measure.

This stuff is fake, right?

Yes, the "news" articles published here at Humorix are, ahem, all made up. Fake, fake, fake. Don't take anything we say seriously (except for this sentence, of course).

A few people have actually written in and asked if an article was true or not. While we are flattered that our fabrications were mistaken for actual news, the fact remains: everything here is fake. A few nuggets of truth might be found, but everything else is a figment of our imaginations. If in doubt, just remember this saying: "Fake news is to Humorix as unconfirmed rumors are to Slashdot."

Who writes this stuff?

The Contributors page lists all of the people that have written articles.

Can I write something?

Yes, you too can have the ego-gratification that comes when your Linux humor piece is published. Just send in your piece to editor [at] humorix [dot] org. The Editor will read it, edit it, read it again, make some more changes, polish it, spell check it, read it again, and make a few more changes. Or, if he's feeling lazy that day, he may just publish the darn thing and not worry about it. Any major alterations the Editor deems necessary will be sent back to you for your perusal and approval.

What about advertising opportunities?

Yes, we have absolutely no problem accepting money from sponsors. Humorix offers several levels of sponsorship:

Contact the Humorix Sponsorship Department (give-us-money [at] humorix [dot] org) for full details about our "affordable" rates.

Is there a mailing list?

Of course. If you would prefer to read Humorix material from the comfort of your own inbox, you can. Subscribers can also post their own jokes or make comments about previous articles. If you want to subscribe, send a message to to majordomo@humbolt.nl.linux.org containing the command "subscribe humorix" in the body.

The list is graciously hosted by Rik van Riel over at nl.linux.org.

Visit the list's archive for past messages.

Do you support syndication?

If you would like to display Humorix headlines on your own website, you can grab our RSS 0.91 back-end file (headlines.rdf) directly. To conserve bandwidth, we recommend that you access the headlines no more than once per day.
